Identifying Stakeholders
Identifying stakeholders
Identification of relevant stakeholders beyond your improvement project group will help you prioritise your work, increasing your understanding of needs from, service, staff, lived experience and third sector partners.
Engagement that includes a broad range of stakeholders will allow you and your team to engage in work that is inclusive, representative, accountable and empowers people with co-occurring needs to be involved in the decisions that impact the support they receive.
This approach aligns with government priorities, human rights-based approaches and the Mental Health Core Standards by engaging people in their care and the decisions that affect them.

Stakeholder analysis
Stakeholder analysis tools on the Quality Improvement Zone will assist you in mapping stakeholders by their level of interest and level of influence. It will also assist in identifying the actions you should take for involving and communicating with them.
Health and social care services are busy areas to work in, and face to face engagement is not always feasible or preferrable. Our Community Engagement colleagues have produced guidance on digital stakeholder engagement. This can remove access barriers and allow statutory and non-statutory colleagues and people with lived experience to engage in way that prioritises their time and meets their preferences.
It is important to consider how to engage with wider stakeholders in a way that is appropriate and accessible. The QI Zone’s communication and engagement plan has further tools that can assist with engagement.
