Using systems thinking

The prolonged pressures and challenges facing all parts of our health and social care increases our need to take a system wide approach.

At its essence, systems thinking proposes that a single part of the system will struggle to solve its own problems in isolation.

We know that solutions to challenges in one part of our system, are likely to be found elsewhere in our system.

Taking a system wide approach is great in theory but can feel very intangible or irrelevant when organisations and staff are trying to do it in practice.
