The Volunteering Management System is being designed for – and with the involvement of – NHS boards, to help transform volunteer engagement.

Since 2022, NHS board volunteering teams have helped shape a transformation programme that will: 

• Free up capacity to redesign and improve volunteering models; 
• Support better use of data to evidence impact; 
• Simplify and streamline processes for volunteering staff; and 
• Improve the volunteer experience through self-service functionality. 

The System has been co-developed by NHS boards and is currently being rolled out, with 85% of boards involving volunteers due to go live by September 2026.
