How can local government create the conditions for continuous learning in complex systems?

Since 2021, Camden’s Strategy team has been leading a programme of neighbourhood-based learning cycles to strengthen relational ways of working across the council and with communities. Through this work, the team has developed an in-house design research practice that supports service transformation in complex environments where change depends on relationships, local context and continuous testing and learning.

Drawing on two major programmes, Neighbourhood Working and Adult Early Help, this session explores how our role has evolved from researching services to creating the conditions for ongoing learning within them, as strategy officers with front-line experience.

The second half of the session is all about you! Join the conversation as we reflect on the highlights of 2026 and share ideas about what you would like to see from the Design Community of Practice in 2027.
