Overview of the engagement and quality assurance process for service change
NHS boards and Integration Joint Boards must work with people when they are considering changes to health and care services. The Scottish Government and COSLA have produced national guidance, Planning with People, which sets out the process that NHS boards and Integration Joint Boards should follow when they are involving people in decisions about local services.
The overview guide summarises the key elements and stages of the service change process and should be read in conjunctions with the full Planning with People guidance. We have also developed 2 flowcharts providing an overview of the quality assurance process for major and non-major change in NHS boards and Integration Joint Boards.
NHS boards and Integration Joint Boards should discuss proposed service change with us at an early stage so we can provide timely advice and assurance.
